#Noticethistree is a series of interventions across the UK.

This is an invitation to take part in #Noticethistree - a series of interventions brought by the people who campaigned to save a much loved tree in North London - the Happy Man Tree.  Each intervention will create space for people to come together and tell their own stories of trees and efforts to save them. And each intervention will feature a cinema screening of Katy McGahan’s  documentary film (12a, 75 minutes) about the highs and lows of the Happy Man Tree campaign. After the screening there is an invitation to reflect and ask questions of each other about the impact of protest, and loss, upon ourselves and the world. 

Intervention No1 - the start of the series - is on the 30^th November at Picturehouse Cinema Finsbury Park. (Tickets to be involved in all of this Intervention are here) You are invited to ‘call in’ a tree that feels important to you,  one you may like to be noticed.   It can be any local tree - or trees -  that are either at risk -  or might be already felled. The invitation is  for you to walk to the cinema from the place of that  tree  and/or meet us at the cinema at 17.45.  Please bring an object which represents the tree for you (a leaf, twig, photo, anything)  and which can be included in an installation which will travel with us from city to city. Before the screening of the Happy Man Tree there will be opportunities to tell the story of your tree, should you wish. After the screening we will be holding a discussion space called ‘What now?’

Tree 1: 

STaGS (Friends of St Anne’s Green Spaces) are walking from St. Ann's Hospital, St Anns Rd, London, N15 3TH leaving at 4.45pm outside the old St Ann’s Hospital Entrance. “It's all about calling in the trees” You can identify a tree you care about, which is under threat, gone, or standing proud for years yet. Bring a candle in a jar if you like or something that holds the memory of a chosen tree. We will also have some pictures of the St Ann’s trees for people to carry. PLEASE NOTE: this walk will ideally take us through the Finsbury Park. Hello. My name is Lorie Jo. This is my tree. It’s an old oak tree and is at the back of my next door neighbours garden. I’ve spent along time with it. In its presence. But probably not long enough. I’d like to sleep in it one day. It makes me feel vulnerable. It’s part of a protected tree area at the back of my house but since the happy man tree I don’t believe that means anything anymore. It’s the first tree I have loved. I will be walking from this tree and bringing it with me for Intervention no1 and will be thinking about our collective vulnerability and loss and this wonderful tree. Anybody is welcome to join me.
